About Us

How it began ......

Shardonnay Twirling Majorettes were established on 1st May 2002 by their troupe trainer Donna. The troupe set up a committee as soon as the troupe opened which consisted of four committee members, parents of children in the troupe and Donna's mum Julie. Now the troupe still holds a committee and Donna is the Manager of the troupe with the backing of her mum and the committee members.

On the first night of the troupe opening over 30 children attended and each week the numbers grew. Soon after the troupe was opened Donna joined the troupe into an Organisation called the Yorkshire Dance Twirl Association (Y.D.T.A) but is now known as the West Yorkshire Dance Association (W.Y.D.A). In the July 2002 only two months after been open Donna entered the troupe into their first competition so they could get a feel of what majorettes was like and watch some more experienced troupes in action. The girls did fantastically well winning 2nd place Novice Pom Pom Toupe, 1st Leader and 2nd Mascot as well as one of the girls winning Majorette of the day!

whats happening now.....

Shardonnay Twirling Majorettes are into their 7th year and are growing in strength. Over the years the troupe has won many awards in many competitions, But 2008 has to be the proudest year as a trainer. The troupe of 25 girls won a fanastic amount of awards and titles to accompany them, one of which crowned them N.M.A's Troupe of the Year 2008

Donna still remains part of the troupe but has taken the position of Troupe Leader/Head Trainer and has enlisted the help of her seniors Jessica, Becky and Paige to help train the girls. The troupe also has parent volunteers who help out at events to ensure they run smoothly.

All these people continue to help the troupe move forwards and up wards and without their help and the talented members the troupe wouldnt be what it is today.

2008 was an exciting as well as an eventful year for all involved in shardonnay and everyone has worked extremley hard to achieve what they did during the year and hit the Yorkshire evening post with their outstanding news! im very happy and priviledged to have such a talented, respectable bunch of children and young adults. thank you so much.

In 2009 we have competed in NMA and have joined a new association which they took part in their first competition in October 2009 winning numerous awards, one of them being Senior troupe of the competition. At the NMA finals we had probably our best weekend of the year winning many troupe awards and leader/mascot awards. Here we also attained Senior Baton Troupe of the year, Military Troupe of the year and Senior Pom Pom Troupe of the year.

We now look to 2010 with a full season in the Great British Baton Twirling Association (GBBTA).
